Leviste’s Solar Philippines ramps up capacity to meet higher demand, expand overseas


Solar Philippines Bilyonaryo Leandro Leviste is raising the capacity of its Batangas solar factory equivalent to 800 megawatts (MW) this year and 2,000 MW in 2018.

The solar panel manufacturing plant located in Sto. Tomas, Batangas started with a 200-MW output last March.

The ramp-up in capacity will address its plans to add more export customers and to build solar farms outside the country, Leviste said.

Solar Philippines sells solar panels to Chinese companies seeking to manufacture solar panels from Southeast Asia for export to the US and Europe.

Meanwhile, it aims to construct 1,000 MW of solar projects by 2018, around half of which will be in Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, India, the US, and sub-Saharan Africa.
