ERC rejects consumer rights advocates’ pleas vs Meralco

 

The Energy Regulatory Commission has thumbed down the motions filed by consumer rights groups to become oppositors to three power supply agreements forged by Manila Electric Co. (Meralco).

According to the ERC, the consumer rights activists failed to file ther motions within five days prior to the initial hearing of the case.

These PSAs are with Redondo Peninsula Energy Inc., St. Raphael Power Generation Corp., Atimonan One Energy, and Panay Energy Development Corp.

On April 29, 2016, Meralco signed seven PSAs covering the supply of 3,551 megawatts (MW).
