Nothing but the best: Megawide taps leading global travel caterer to operate Mactan Airport?s food outlets


SSP Group, a leading operator of food and beverage concessions in travel locations worldwide, has been awarded a contract at the Mactan International Airport.

The Megawide-GMR consortium has awarded the UK-based SSP Group a seven-year.contract to design, develop and operate the food and beverage units of terminals 1 & 2 of the country’s second busiest gateway.

“We are.proud to partner with them in bringing world-class standards that Filipinos deserve. We’re also looking forward to showcasing the best of our local delicacies to international travelers such as Cebu’s famous lechon and sried mangoes,” said Louie Ferrer, president of Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

SSP Group has over 2,000 food and beverage outlets in airports in 32 countries including Heathrow Airport in London, Orly and Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, Frankfurt Airport, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Kloten Airport in Zurich, Helsinki Airport, and Sydney Airport.

The contract will begin with thr opening of terminal 2 in June next year.

Ferrer said they want to offer travellers the best airport gastronomy and world-class service.

Discussions are now ongoing to finalize the brands that will be featured at the Mactan Airport, which has emerged as one of the fastest-growing airports in Southeast Asia, with passenger volume expanding 12 percent to 7.4 million.

Mactan Airport aims to end the year with 10 million passengers. It expects this to grow further to 11.5 million by 2018.
