Coming soon: Non-stop flights between PH and Maldives
Philippines and Maldives signed a deal that opens the door for direct flights between the two countries that could boost tourism and trade.
The bilateral air services agreement signed Tuesday allows for an initial 1,200 seats which can be flown weekly by designated airlines.
In line with the Philippines’ pocket open skies policy, however, flights originating from or destined doe points outside Manila will be unlimited.
The open skies policy promotes other international gateways away from the capital.
The air services accord was reached after a two-day meeting between the two countries.
The Maldives, a tropical paradise of pristine beaches, comprise 1,192 coral islands in the Indian Ocean.
