What a scrooge! Zambo airport paralyzed because Cebu Pac has no tow bar

This Gokongwei-owned company caused a ruckus in Zamboanga City.

Mayor Beng Climaco appealed to airline companies to have contingency measures in the event of emergencies, especially after the Zamboanga Airport was left paralyzed for nearly three hours over something that would have been easily solved.

It turns out that a Cebu Pacific aircraft blocked the runway on Monday, April 23 due to a steering fault. It caused a major problem as other planes couldn’t use the runway due to the roadblock, which Climaco said would have been easily addressed had Cebu Pacific equipped their plane with a tow bar.

“The presence of a tow bar was urgent at that time given the losses incurred as a result of the aircraft blocking the runway. No inbound and outbound flights were allowed for the more or less 3 hours while the runway was not cleared,” Climaco wrote on Facebook.

What a hassle!
