San Miguel to pump in $1B in new breweries, eyes first US plant
Diversified conglomerate San Miguel Corp. plans a major expansion of its brewery business with at least $1 billion earmarked to put up 10 breweries here and abroad to keep pace with consumer demand.
In an interview with Reuters, SMC president Ramon S. Ang said eight new breweries with a capacity of one to two hectoliters per year would be built across the country in the next two years.
Ang said the group was also looking at building its first brewery in the US which is estimated to cost between $100 to $200 million. Also in the pipeline is a second production facility in Vietnam.
It has six breweries in the country and has another six in Asia.
