The central bank governor will be taking a break from official duties for health reasons.
Governor Nestor Espenilla, Jr. of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has announced that he will be on medical leave from Sept. 19 to Oct. 2, 2018 to undergo treatment.
Espenilla has been diagnosed with tongue cancer in November last year, although he said he has been declared cancer-free earlier this year. Deputy Governor Chuchi Fonacier has been designated as officer-in-charge during his absence.
