DICT sees full implementation of digital TV in 2023

 

The Philippines is on track to fully implement digital terrestrial broadcasting by 2023, the Department of Information Communications and Technology (DICT) said.

?The target date is 2023, some of the TV networks are migrating now, ” said Acting DICT secretary Eliseo Rio .

Digital terrestrial broadcasting offers better quality video and audio signals.

The Philippines first adopted Japan?s Integrated Services Digital Broadcast-Terrestrial (ISDB-T) in 2013 as the sole standard in DTT services in

ISDB-T features the Emergency Warning Broadcast System which can disseminate early warnings, alerts and advisories in localized areas.

Lopez-led ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. launched its digital TV service in 2015 while rival GMA Network, is set to roll out its own DTV devices within the year.
