Espenilla extends leave, says future absences likely

He will be in and out of office for a while.

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Nestor Espenilla, Jr. has extended his medical leave to Oct. 26, which marks over a month since he underwent a fresh round of treatment.

A BSP advisory also stated that the central bank governor can also be out in several instances in the future, but that it will be business as usual with deputy governors taking turns as officer-in-charge.

Espenilla was diagnosed with tongue cancer.
