Pampanga’s Dennis Uy open to partnering with namesake from Davao
Converge ICT Solutions Inc. is open to partnering with the Mislatel consortium of Davao-based businessman Dennis Uy and China Telecommunications Corp.
“We’re open to support anyone. We sell to other providers and we don’t see any problem working with Mislatel. Sayang din yong revenue. We have a network that can cover 50 percent of the population, said Jesus Romero, COO of Converge ICT.
Mislatel, which was chosen as the country’s third telco after the two other bidders were disqualified, committed to deliver 27 megabits per second of minimum average broadband speed in its first year before upgrading to 55 Mbps in the next four years.
It has committed to spend P257 billion in infrastructure and service rollout during the five-year period.
Converge ICT, on the other hand, backed out from the third telco bidding.
It signed strategic partnerships with foreign and local telecommunications companies to roll out high-speed broadband network nationwide over a five-year period.
Under the partnership, Korea Telecoms, LSI-Fibernet Konstruk Corp., and TE Connectivity Subcom will help Converge ICT build and deploy the infrastructure necessary to provide pure end-to-end fiber internet connectivity at a nationwide scale.
The rollout has the potential to reach more than 13 million of the 22 million households nationwide.
