Unreliable connection: PLDT’s tech glitch causes delay in PSE trading
Trading at the Philippine Stock Exchange was delayed by almost an hour on December 3 due to the poor service of PLDT.
PSE president and chief executive officer Ramon Monzon said in a letter to the tabloid Abante that a glitch in PLDT’s connection caused trading at the PSE to start late.
“We wish to clarify that our telecommunications line provider has confirmed that the incident on December 3, 2018 was not due to PSE servers but due to telecommunications connectivity issue,” he said.
Trading at the PSE started at 10:15 a.m. on December 3 instead of 9:30 a.m. due to a problem in the telecommunications line of its data center, and its production and discovery sites.
PSE’s servers are located at a data center of PLDT.
The telco owned by Manny V. Pangilinan, however, told Abante that the problem in the servers was caused by PSE and that its own personnel fixed the glitch.
