Del Monte reels from NutriAsia boycott

Sales dropped just as a boycott was launched against their products.

Del Monte Pacific Limited reported lower sales volume in the Philippines, which came because of issues in its general trade and mixed fruit varieties as they are sorting out “operational issues.”

Sales dropped by 3% when computed in the peso and 8% if in the US dollar from August to October 2018.

This came after a boycott of NutriAsia products from the Campos-led firm was launched to protest against its practice of labor contractualization.

Still, Del Monte reported a strong $8.4 million overall net income.
