Woman behind the wheel: Dennis Uy taps ex-Kia boss to drive Ferrari PH
Bilyonaryo Dennis Uy has picked a woman to take the driver’s seat in his newly-acquired Ferrari franchise.
Our Babbler said Uy, who took over the Ferrari franchise from Wellington Soong in October 2018, poached Elena Mari Ginia R. Domingo from the Columbian Autocar group of Palawan Governor Pepito Alvarez.
Domingo has been president of Columbian since 2011 and has been the main driving force Kia’s resurgence in the local market with improving after-sales service and more hip line-up.
Alvarez sold majority control of Columbian and the Kia franchise to the Ayala group last October and Domingo was among those let go by the new owners.
Our Babbler said Uy has full trust in Domingo who was his contact in Columbian when he took a whiff at buying the Kia franchise before losing out to the Ayalas.
This will be a big change of pace for Domingo as she would jump from an entry-level Korean badge to the most revered automotive brand in the world. With more than two decades of experience in the industry, we believe Uy has picked the right person for the job.
