Kelsey Merritt says huge plastic problem not the fault of poor Pinoys

Businesses need to step up and make their products eco-friendly.

International model Kelsey Merritt seems to make the Philippines prouder beyond just being the first Pinay to join the ranks of Victoria’s Secret angels on the runway.

The fresh-faced woman also spoke up to explain why Filipinos make so much plastic waste, saying most of them are unintentional.

A global firm said Pinoys throw away 164 million plastic sachets daily, although Merritt said this is not likely deliberate. Others don’t have a choice, after all.

“It’s also not the responsibility of the consumer anymore if all they can afford to buy is tingi-tingi and they have no other option than to buy plastic sachets. We need to encourage companies to change the way they package their products,” Merritt said.

Your move, manufacturers!
