Gov’t spends more in February
They’re trying to catch up despite the reenacted budget.
The Bureau of the Treasury reported better spending figures for February, with disbursements rising by 21 percent to reach P278.5 billion.
The government said this was a great achievement despite the delayed passage of the 2019 budget, as the Senate and House of Representatives continued to lock horns about the measure.
The bigger releases came due to payments of accounts payable by agencies plus the release of January internal revenue allotment for local government units which slid to February.
Total spending reached P490.7 billion for the first two months, up seven percent year on year.
