Is the pay getting better at sea?

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) reported steady cash remittances in February, with the number clocking in at $2.3 billion versus $2.27 billion a year ago.

This brought the two-month tally to $4.78 billion, up by 3% from $4.65 billion in 2018.

While land-based overseas workers sent the bulk at $3.73 billion, the central bank took note of a 10.5% spike in remittances from sea-based Pinoys working abroad.

One-third of the remittances were from the US, followed by Pinoys in Saudi Arabia, Singapore, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Japan, Canada, Qatar, Hong Kong, and Germany.
