Quark Henares shares life lessons from Game of Thrones

For the director son of Belo Medical Group founder Vicki Belo and Atom Henares, there’s more to watching Game of Thrones than the thrill and its good story.

“NO SPOILERS (awww even saying that for the last time makes me sentimental)

Say what you or I will about Game of Thrones — it was still a mostly beautiful nine-year run that changed television forever, gave us some of the most interesting characters in modern fiction, and, most importantly, brought people together.
I remember getting my LA roommate Lenelle into it
and going nuts in front of her during the Red Wedding (by then she wiki’d what would happen 😑); or having it be the source of bonding moments with GoT scholars like Jason McLagan, Jennifer Mizzi, and even Bianca Yuzon. I remember the first mass viewing we had, for the Winds of Winter at Chris’s, which is probably my favorite episode because of that. “There’s nothing in the world more powerful than a good story,” said Tyrion in the final episode, and as a person who’s made it his life to pursue stories, seeing the impact this show had on people warmed the cockles of my heart. Even how heated the discussion got towards the end was really inspiring, because the conversation turned to character arcs and storytelling technique. To quote Mihk as the credits rolled at the final Monday Night’s Watch: THE REAL GAME OF THRONES ARE THE FRIENDS WE MADE ALONG THE WAY 😂😂😂,” said @quarkhenares.
