Should we thank Diokno for strong peso? Economist thinks he just got lucky

 

Bloomberg reported that the Philippine peso has seen its best performance so far this year, up 1.5% this quarter.

Some credit the peso’s strength to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Benjamin Diokno’s’ shift to a looser monetary policy to prop up the local economy.
