Ben Diokno pushes fintech
The Philippines can be a world model on how central banks should handle digital financial channels.
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Benjamin Diokno has found a way to conquer the world stage, and that is through showcasing the country’s unique and advanced ways of handling financial technology (fintech).
The newbie central banker took the spotlight during the joint Bank of Thailand and International Monetary Fund High-Level Conference held in Bangkok this June.
Diokno reported about BSP’s policy goals on financial innovation, safety and resilience, and consumer protection.
“The adoption of fintech innovations has provided support to the BSP’s thrust to foster a responsive, efficient, and inclusive financial system. Because of this, fostering the responsible use of fintech is a priority agenda of the BSP,” Diokno said.
