Filinvest opens first condo in Dumaguete City

DUMAGUETE CITY – Dumaguete Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo lauded real estate developer Filinvest Land Inc. of the Gotianun family for initiating a condominium-style of living in this Central Visayas capital.

During Monday’s formal turnover and blessing of the first of three condominium buildings of Filinvest’s Marina Spatial at Barangay Piapi, Remollo said this was “the first honest-to-goodness (condominium) project in the city that would usher in more investments of this nature”.

Those who bought units made a good decision because Filinvest was already looking for another site for a similar project, he said.

Building A of Marina Spatial, comprising 244 units, was formally turned over in a ceremony at Filinvest’s Marina Township.

Phil Calumpang, Filinvest-Dumaguete manager, said aside from three condominiums, the complex would have a shopping mall and a hotel.

A 9,000-square meter, four-story mall similar to Filinvest’s Festival Mall in Alabang will be put up the seafront.

Filinvest started turning over the condominium units in the last week of May this year with at least 100 units ready for occupancy.

Filinvest is currently securing permits before starting excavations for the second building which would be finished in two to three years. Remollo estimated that Filinvest would be able to recover its investments in less than five years.

Remollo said the city’s ongoing projects would complement Filinvest’s project such as the north and south extension of the boulevard. Remollo said he made sure that these projects would impact the city’s farthest barangay as part of the city’s master plan.

Other projects include the diversion road traversing the city to decongest traffic in the Poblacion or city proper, the construction of the satellite hospital in Talay, a satellite market in the vicinity of Junob and Talay, a dormitory project for athletes in Talay, and the relocation of the fire department and the police in the middle of Talay.

Calumpang revealed that Filinvest was keen on expanding to other cities but its main concentration was in Dumaguete. Filinvest is planning a housing project in the outskirts of the city.
